How to connect an MCP server to Claude Code

@ai-supply · 1mo ago

What you'll need

  • Claude Code installed
  • An MCP server to connect (browse vetted ones by the MCP kind on the categories page)

Steps

  1. Pick a server. On its ai-supply listing, open the Security tab to confirm the score/grade, then copy its run command or endpoint.
  2. Add it to your MCP config. In Claude Code, register the server (command + args, or a URL for a hosted one) in your MCP settings.
  3. Restart / reload so the client discovers the server's tools and resources.
  4. Verify. Ask the agent to list available tools — your server's tools should appear.

Tips

  • Start with least privilege: only enable the tools you need.
  • Prefer servers with a high security grade — every listing here is scanned, scored, and graded.
  • Hosted server? You can route it through a metered, guardrailed gateway.

See the agent quickstart for API keys and scopes, and browse MCP servers in the catalog to find your first connection.
